When Robert Hughes saw his company was quickly running out of space, he contacted First Companies to help him find a new location in downtown Grand Rapids. Advantage Benefits Group (ABG) wanted to double its space and remain in the downtown area. First Companies Real Estate Division helped ABG find the ideal space at 1 Ionia Avenue. The Construction Division then took over and managed the build-out of ABG’s new 6,500 SF office, fully renovating their space on the second and third floors of the historic building. The project included the addition of a central staircase to connect the two floors, spacious private offices, a new kitchen/break room, executive conference rooms with views of downtown, added restrooms, and space for employee collaboration and community-building. All work was completed on time and within budget.
