First Companies was honored to be selected by Lakeside Aggregate to construct their new 30,000 SF facility in Nunica in 2022. The building includes an office area, a maintenance shop for their trucks, a storage mezzanine, parts storage, a vehicle wash bay, maintenance pits, and a 7.5-ton rail crane. First Companies determined a pre-engineered concrete structure would best meet the client’s needs. The maintenance bays feature large overhead doors for easy entry and exiting of the trucks.
Due to material shortages, the county-owned water main wasn’t completed until a few weeks before the project was scheduled to be finished. As a result, First Companies had to pour 60,000 SF of concrete pavement in a month to meet the timeline. Additional shortages created long lead times for the electrical gear, pushing the primary power hook up to within 5 days of turning the building over. Even with these challenges, all work was completed as planned.
