Attorneys Thomas Kuiper and Scott Kraemer partnered with First Companies to construct a new office for their law firm, Kuiper Kraemer. After years of frustrating commutes to their office space downtown Grand Rapids, both Thomas and Scott desired to have a second space outside of the city that was closer to their homes. Their vision was clear: a high-end, professional workspace that offered the comfort and aesthetic of a residential environment.
First Companies was excited to bring this vision to life. The result is a stunning, two-story, wood-framed structure that seamlessly blends upscale commercial functionality with a warm, residential feel. The building’s exterior features cement board siding, cultured stone, and meticulously designed landscaping.
Inside, visitors are welcomed through a custom door imported from Europe into a living room style reception area. A gas fireplace, hardwood flooring, marble and granite surfaces, and elegant lighting fixtures set the tone for the rest of the space. This elevated design continues throughout the building, including the private offices, restrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a unique upstairs speakeasy-style conference room, cleverly hidden behind a secret door.
Throughout the project, the First Companies team navigated the challenges of sourcing luxury finishes and imported materials. Early selection of key items was of utmost importance to avoid any delays. First Companies was pleased to deliver a space to Kuiper Kraemer that balances professional polish with residential comfort—all in a convenient, close-to-home location.
