As Foxtail Coffee Co. continues their expansion North, First Companies was selected to build their first franchise store in Michigan. Located in Ada Village, the 2,200 SF coffee shop is the first retail build-out to be completed in the newest three-story, multi-tenant building which was also constructed by First Companies.
Following Foxtail Coffee’s design guidelines, the cozy, upscale shop welcomes customers with a rustic interior featuring polished concrete floors, barnwood siding, and large windows to bring in ample light. The natural wood is complemented by white quartz countertops, a white tile backsplash, and pendant lights to “marry” the rustic with more modern elements. The forest-themed mural and functional gas fireplace make this environment perfect for visiting with friends, catching up on email, and enjoying Foxtail Coffee’s array of exceptional food and beverage options. In addition to customer seating and the prep and service area, the space includes ample storage in the back, with six refrigerators and two freezers.
Unique to this project, First Companies had to coordinate closely with clients located in Florida, so clear and consistent communication was essential. Also, as this is a franchise, it was critical for key elements of the design to be completed per Foxtail Coffee’s detailed specifications, including the tables and chairs and the same barnwood used in all stores. To achieve this, the team included one week in the schedule for the corporate carpenter to come and complete this work. The project came in under budget, and the team finished in less than four months, one week early.
