Construction Safety

FC Job Site SignFirst Companies has an established safety program in our construction division with an excellent track record. We recognize that constant improvement and vigilance is key to ensuring a safe work culture. In our determination to be premier in our safety program, we have a full-time director of safety on staff. In this role, he works with outside consultants to develop training programs and implement policies that ensure the safety of everyone on site. The company invests in ongoing training for its employees as well as its subcontractors, offering regular classes on CPR and for OSHA 30 certification.

At the start of each project, we review and prequalify all project bidders and suppliers based on their safety policies and record. We then write a safety assessment describing the proposed subcontractors, which is used to select the final project team.

Early planning includes assessing areas of the work site where safety-related signage will be needed, as well as potential safety challenges relative to the location and project timeline. Once the project begins, we facilitate regular safety audits and ongoing reporting, with intermittent/unannounced safety inspections conducted by the director of safety, project managers and an unbiased third-party consultant. Safety is a regular topic in daily and weekly team progress meetings where any concerns can be quickly addressed.

Given safety is vital and a top priority for each project, pre-planning and pre-qualification provide the essential foundation for success, while daily monitoring and inspections ensure successful implementation of the plan. Safety planning includes clear, concise communication with project team members and our clients.
