First Companies began its relationship with Aspen Surgical in 2004 when they were hired to construct the company’s first new building. While all went well with the project, it wasn’t many years later when the Aspen Surgical once again found itself short on space and unable to support the tremendous growth they had experienced in their existing facility. To date, First Companies has been hired to complete seven different construction projects to keep pace with the company’s growing space needs. The unique interior design, which included floating ceilings, curved walls and other special architectural elements, required creative thinking and planning to achieve the desired results. Also unique to Aspen Surgical was the requirement for conditioned warehouse space, with both air conditioning and heat. Over time, much of the warehouse area was converted to a series of clean rooms, all with special requirements to keep them free of any dirt and dust, down to the microbes. First Companies also built a new warehouse next door with a connecting walkway between the two buildings.
“The thought of moving from 5,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet at first seemed daunting, but with First Companies’ design input, support and knowledge, our fears were quickly relieved. Your entire team consists of very knowledgeable and personable people who are very easy to work with. In addition, they were very flexible and responsive when changes were requested during the construction process, all while maintaining our timelines. Having recently added another 3,500 square feet of office space within our current location is testament to the forward-thinking put into the future expansion needs we requested.”
