Foam-It
Kentwood

First Companies’ relationship with FOAM-IT began in 2000 when the company purchased their first building. First Companies facilitated the real estate transaction and later completed an expansion project. When FOAM-IT out-grew that location, First Companies was hired once again to build-out their newest location in Soundtech Court. FOAM-IT now has 46,000 square feet of office, warehouse and manufacturing space, with five docks and two overhead doors. The work included removal of the existing concrete floor for the mezzanine foundations, trench drains, showers, and other plumbing and electrical requirements. The office features striking blue and white color throughout with custom LED light fixtures, raised floor areas, coffered circular ceilings and serpentine wave metal clouds in the conference areas – all to reflect the distinctive FOAM-IT brand.

“Once we had the plan, everything went smoothly. First Companies was very willing to work with our designer and listened to our needs. We knew they understood our vision and would be our advocate throughout the project. We would absolutely recommend them to others.” Ann Jacques, Owner

Kingma’s Market
Ada, MI

First Companies was hired to construct the newest location for Kingma’s Market in downtown Ada. Part of the new Ada Village, Kingma’s is one of multiple new buildings First Companies has built in the area. The beautiful store has nearly 14,000 square feet on the main floor with a small mezzanine above. This ground-up construction project was modeled after an old mill in keeping with the theme of the area. The building is masonry block bearing with all block remaining exposed and burnished to create the rustic interior finish. The roof is a combination of heavy timber glulam trusses and rafters that support a larger span with sips roof panels covered by a standing seam metal roof. The exterior façade is primarily brick with precast accents and metal panels. Large windows throughout flood the market with natural lighting.

At the same time Kingma’s Market was being built, First Companies also completed a multi-tenant retail building just adjacent to the market. Kingma’s Market is also home to Rowster’s Coffee Bar and offers a full service custom meat and seafood counter by Fish Lads and Carvers.

“We were delighted to work with a great group of companies to bring to life the new Kingma’s Market for the Ada community. We appreciated the partnership with First Companies to make our vision a reality.” Alan Hartline
