When First Companies completed the building on 40th street in Grand Rapids, 1-800-HANSONS was one of the first to move in. First Companies constructed the entire building as well as managed the build-out for 1-800-HANSONS to meet the needs of their business as well as convey their brand.  The new space has given 1-800-HANSONS 5,000 square feet with both office and warehouse space.  The staff enjoys a great training room and small kitchenette in addition to new office space and conference room.  Construction was completed in 2015 and the build-out took less than 2 months to complete.

616 Lofts on Michigan
Grand Rapids MI

616 Lofts on Michigan is the most recent project completed by 616 Development and First Companies. This mixed use building is located in the Midtown neighborhood and was the first ground-up project for 616 Development, with 68,000 square feet and many new and historic amenities. The property includes 54 one and two bedroom apartments, underground parking and 9,700 square feet of retail space on the street level.

First Companies was able to collaborate with Kent Companies to work through the elements to keep the project moving forward, ensuring our completion date was not compromised. Chambers Dental
Grand Rapids MI

When Dr. Chambers outgrew his original office space, he knew he needed more room for growth, but didn’t want to give up his ideal location on 28th street. Fortunately, a building across the street came available and Dr. Chambers decided to purchase it and undertake a major remodel. First Companies was recommended for the job due to their extensive experience building dental offices. The remodel took the building down to the studs and trusses, but was completed right on time. The L-shaped space gave the staff 3,400 square feet, including 8 operatories, a comfortable waiting area, front desk and business office, consulting space and a separate lab and sterilization area, server room and employee break room.

Foot & Ankle Specialists
Norton Shores/Grand Rapids MI

Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan joins a growing group of medical professionals with offices in beautiful new facilities built by First Companies in Norton Shores and in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Both locations are part of multi-tenant professional buildings with First Companies managing the building construction as well as the tenant build-outs.  The 2,700 SF Norton Shores office is also home to West Michigan Eye & Laser and West Michigan ENT & Allergy.

The 9,000 SF Grand Rapids office is located in a 40,000 SF building right next to Heritage Pointe on East Paris Avenue. Foot & Ankle Specialists was the first tenant to move in with others to follow soon.  This larger office has a spacious waiting area, 12 exam rooms, administrative offices, a break/conference room and physical therapy area. The doctors and nurses utilize a centralized work area with easy access to the exam rooms for speed and efficiency.  This second project was completed in just 4 months, ahead of schedule and under budget.

Franklin Partners/Spectrum Health

When Spectrum Health decided to move 500 of its employees in the Information Systems department to downtown Grand Rapids, Franklin Partners LLC (owner/developer of 25 Ottawa Ave NW) had the perfect location. First Companies was hired to complete the renovations that included floors 2-6, with the first phase of floors 5 and 6 shown here. Spectrum Health was seeking a high-amenity, urban location to use as a recruiting tool to attract and retain top talent. The “class A” office space provides about 80,000 square feet of open, collaborative workspace with high ceilings, timber structure, exposed columns, and masonry walls.

Wayland MI

Holland (headquartered in Holland, MI) hired First Companies to construct its new trucking terminal at 10151 Division Avenue SW, Wayland, MI. The new facility includes a 48,790 SF terminal with 110 truck docks and 6,300 SF of new office space. The 22-acre site also includes a new 16,000 SF maintenance building with a fueling station. Holland left behind their 72 dock facility in Wyoming, MI in August of 2015 to move into the new complex providing nearly triple the yard space.

The Goddard School
Grand Rapids MI

When owner, Lindsay Moore, decided to start her own business, she began looking for suitable locations for The Goddard School she planned to open. She found the ideal property and construction partner with First Companies. The 8800 square foot facility in Byron Center was constructed to very high standards for safety and quality set by the Goddard organization. All classroom sizes, setups, and fixtures follow strict guidelines which include fixtures that fit the age of the child and continue to increase in size as the children grow. The fence design keeps children safe and secure while allowing them to see outside and learn from their surroundings. The overall design and layout ensures a fun, comfortable learning environment as well as compliance with all regulations.

West Cannon Baptist Church
Belmont MI

West Cannon Baptist Church has undergone numerous construction projects over the years – most recently the addition of a new activities building that gave them an additional 11,133 square feet that now houses their youth worship center, bistro-style gathering area, and many additional classrooms to support the growing congregation. The new addition is a two-story pre-engineered metal building constructed by First Companies.
